There has been some confusion as to the new Ordinance regarding sanitation service. If you look at the line denoted as “Resid. Garbage” on the sample bill below, note that this was the base rate for residential service until Ordinance 1251 was passed by the city council on Oct. 7, 2025, at which time the base rate will be going DOWN from $36.00 to $30.00 per month.
The form you received in the mail entitled “ADDITIONAL RESIDENTIAL POLY CART REQUEST FORM” is ONLY for those home owners requesting more than one poly cart, and because the owners are billed for your garbage and sewer, only property owners may fill out this form for additional poly carts. If you are a renter, you must go through your landlord to request an additional cart. Your first poly cart is included in every household’s base fee for residential service.
You are not being charged an additional fee for your first poly cart.
Therefore, your residential garbage base rate will DROP by $6.00 if you only need one cart. If you need two carts, your rate will DROP by $1.00 (down from $36.00 to $35.00 per month for the base rate).
The only way your rate will increase is if you need MORE than 2 carts.
The total of your bill includes your sewer rate (everyone’s rate varies based on your water usage from OKC) – in this example, the “Resid. Sewer Use” rate is only $4.95 because this household uses the least amount of water that can be calculated. If you use more water, then your “Resid. Sewer Use” rate will be more.
Therefore, in addition to the hazardous waste fee, line maintenance, residential ambulance service, EPA fee, and waste fee, there are two parts to your bill – one for garbage (Resid. Garbage) and one for sewer (Resid. Sewer Base and Resid. Sewer Use).
