Rolling Blackouts Expected Throughout State

Posted on February 16, 2021

OG&E and other electric companies are having a hard time keeping up with the demand for electricity. They will be shutting down different grids randomly for an hour to two hours at a time in order to maintain energy sufficient for everyone. Don’t panic if and when your power goes off. It should come back in an hour or two. If you don’t feel your power is coming back on you may contact them at 800-522-6870. Or you may read more about the rolling power outages at OG&E’s web site.

From the OG&E Twitter Account:

“As directed by Southwest Power Pool, we have initiated temporary service interruptions in parts of the following areas: Oklahoma City, Muskogee, Tishomingo, Norman, Edmond, Pauls Valley, Enid, Woodward, Glenpool, Yukon, Ardmore, Kingston, Guthrie, Hennessey, Midwest City, Sapulpa, El Reno, Del City, Choctaw, Bethany, Warr Acres, and Fort Smith, AR. Service interruptions are mandated by SPP in order to manage regional system load. The estimated duration of the service interruption is approximately two hours.”
